Welcome to the Greystones Taveners Team.

A Taverners team has played at Greystones Cricket Club since it's existance.  The First game played under the Greystones Cricket Banner was actually a Touring Taveners Side  Vrs Cork Harlequins on Sunday 15th April 2012. The ethos of our Taveners team is to encourage team spirit, fair play and above all enjoyment in playing the game on and off the pitch. 

Taverners cricket is played on a 20/20 format inc. following rules.  

• The batsman cannot be out first ball, So get your eye in.........
• There is no LBW .... Try not to stand Directly in front but helps considering the umpiring available.....
• A batsman must retire once his score exceeds 19 runs... So plan ahead, keep tally and hit for 6 on 19"
• A bowler may only bowl 2 overs, 10 players plus the keeper, everyone bowls, everyone could bat, So pad Up......

This allows greater participation for most of the cricketers on the field.  The games can be very competitive but the most important thing is that the game is played in a sporting and friendly manner.  The social aspect of Taverners is as important and the hosting of visiting teams in the local Pub or club bar after our games is one of the many enjoyable aspects of Taverners cricket, Here we select a Player of the Match and go thru the highlights of the game over some well deserved refreshments.

'The Taverner' anyone of any ability under Or over any yrs of age,  with some experience of cricket in their youth, or any similar team sports.  We cater for a lot of /Hockey/Hurling/football/rugby players who have some fitness and still enjoy the competition of a team sport.

We also help players who've had little or no playing experience. The Tavs are always scouting for new blood and has had success in recruiting parents of players in recent years.  If you feel like dusting off and taking to the field , Now's your Chance.

Matches are usually played on Friday Evenings 6pm-9pm.  There are Weekly Nets Sessions at Druids Glen Cricket Ground on Tuesdays 6.30-8.30 pm. ( Entrance Opposite Kilcoole Golf Club )
