From our humble beginnings in 2011, Greystones Cricket continues to go from strength to strength and we are continuing to build on our successes and further develop the game of cricket in Greystones and the surrounding areas.

Whilst we have practice nets situated at Greystones Rugby Club and our game pitch situated at Greystones United Football club it has always been the aim of the club committee to secure our own facilities and we are increasingly confident that this will become a reality in the near future.

Ensuring the delivery of our “field of dreams” brings its own set of challenges and rewards which I am sure that we will overcome. The biggest of these is how will we fund our field of dreams?

Through the support of all members to date we have been able begin to earmark funds for this very purpose, but we have still a way to go to enable us to make our field of dreams a reality and to cover the annual running costs of the club, and your continued support and help, no matter how much, will be essential.

So, how can you help?

Firstly, I would like to encourage you to support as many of the fundraising and club activities as possible, of which more details can be found below

The second area is in helping us raise funds through additional sponsorship. This can range from simply sponsoring a match ball, having a sponsor’s logo on a club clothing, to offering equipment or services to improve and build club facilities and ultimately to assisting us attract larger sponsors and make our field of dreams a reality.

If you or your employer or a friend or friend’s employer might be able to offer support and would be open to an approach from one of the members of fundraising committee we would love to hear from you. Of course, it hardly needs saying, but any and all ideas or offers of support are always greatly appreciated and accepted.

In the near future however, there are two other ways that you can help us and have a bit of fun at the same time.

For our entry in the Greystones St Patrick’s Day parade we need as many men, women and children as possible to be a part of our entry.

After that, the next event will be our quiz night on Friday the 25th of April in the Beach House. Our last two quiz nights have been great fun for all, and there have been some terrific prizes offered and we’re hoping to make 2014’s event the best yet.

I would love to see as many of you as possible at both of these events. Keep your eyes open for announcements on the web site or one of our social feeds such as Facebook and Twitter.

These are exciting developments and it is an exciting time to be involved with Greystones Cricket.
